O setor agrícola é o quarto grande demandador de madeira para energia no país e, cerca de 26% do consumo energético interno do setor agropecuário, é proveniente da lenha (BRASIL, 2011). O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi estimar a demanda energética por lenha para a secagem de grãos no Estado do Paraná. Os resultados foram obtidos por meio de coleta de dados junto às cooperativas agropecuárias, as quais são responsáveis por 56% da produção agrícola do estado e demandam cerca de 1,2 milhão de m3 de lenha, anualmente. Os questionários foram enviados às 81 cooperativas de produção agropecuária em agosto de 2010, sendo que houve um retorno de 17 formulários, ou seja, 21% do número de cooperativas. Os resultados indicaram que o déficit de madeira para energia é alto no Paraná, sendo necessário mais de 11.000 ha de florestas plantadas para suprir a demanda atual. Ao mesmo tempo, observa-se que as metas do Plano ABC no Paraná para sistema agrossilvipastoril e recuperação de pastagens degradadas, somam mais de 300.000 ha. Assim, sistemas de produção contendo o componente florestal poderiam suprir parte da demanda de madeira para energia no Paraná. |

The soil invertebrates can be affected by biotic and abiotic factors, like soil conditions, amount
of litter, topography (altitude and inclination of the terrain) and composition of the vegetation.
Ants have strong influences on ecosystems and are one of the most important groups in land
management. We examined differences in the distribution of soil ants, and their relationship to
environmental factors (percentage of clay, percentage of sand, pH of soil, inclination of the land
and amount of litter). On a system of trails that have been used by the Research Program in
Biodiversity (PPBio) covering a gradient of 25 km² in the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve we
collected 250 sub-samples of litter, in 25 parcels of 250 m of length and 6 m wide, using the
Winkler extractor. The reserve possesses ecosystems of ?terra-firme? forest and the trail system
represents a gradient of topographic soil factors and vegetation, avoiding categorizations. We
found a total of 4,995 individuals distributed in 6 subfamilies, 32 genera, 23 species and 85
morpho-species of ants. The genus Eurhopalothryx was registered for the first time in the reserve.
Ordination analysis (SSH, Semi-Strong Hybrid Multi-Dimensional Scaling) using qualitative data,
indicated differences in terms of ant species composition and the environmental variables.
Regression analysis indicated that the greatest amount of clay was positively related to the
presence of species, while the inclination of the terrain influenced negatively. This investigation
is part of a large inventory and is being continued through the data analysis of the results obtained
with Pitfall traps and sardine baits, and also focusing on the evaluation of other environmental
variables, like structure of the vegetation in the whole gradient being studied.
